Destin Outdoor Kitchens is a planning resource for homeowners in Destin, Miramar Beach, the 30A communities, and Panama City Beach. It publishes information about permits, flood and coastal rules, association review, and materials. It does not design, build, or install outdoor kitchens, and nobody does construction work under its name.
How requests work
The request form and the phone number on this site connect you with an independent local contractor. That contractor decides whether to take on the project and sets its own prices and terms. The contractor may pay this site for the referral. The site doesn't employ, supervise, or vouch for any contractor, so check any builder yourself before you sign. Where the facts come from
Rules on this coast differ from one office to the next, and the details change. This site tries to tie each factual statement to the source that sets the rule:
- Permits and codes come from the City of Destin, Walton County, and the City of Panama City Beach, and from the Florida Statutes and the Florida Building Commission.
- Coastal and flood rules come from Florida Statutes chapter 161, the Department of Environmental Protection's rules, and the federal floodplain regulations in 44 CFR Part 60.
- Association rules come from Florida Statutes chapter 720 and from documents the associations publish themselves, such as Seaside's architectural regulations and WaterColor's design review pages.
- Climate and soils come from NOAA's 1991–2020 climate normals and the USDA's soil survey data.
- Utility and rebate details come from the utility's own pages, with the month the site read them.
The site keeps a claims ledger that records each fact, where it appears, its source, and the date someone checked it. A second reviewer, not the writer, checks each entry against the source. Each guide lists its sources at the end.
What you won't find here
You won't find reviews, project photos, or claims about a company's history, because no company builds under this name. The photos are stock images of local places, credited in their captions, or generated illustrations labeled "Illustrative image." The diagrams show a typical case, not a specific property.
This site also leaves out cost figures for now. It hasn't found enough independent sources for this market to publish a range it can stand behind.
A planning guide, not advice
Rules change. The Florida Building Commission's workplan sets December 31, 2026 as the effective date of the 9th edition (2026) of the Florida Building Code. Associations revise their guidelines. Rebates end. Before you act on anything here, confirm it with the permit office, your association, or the utility. Nothing on this site is legal or engineering advice.
